Chinese and foreign youths participate in Fenghuang dialogue

More than 10 Chinese and foreign youths participating in the Shibadong Forum on Poverty Reduction and Development gathered in Fenghuang County, Xiangxi Tujia-Miao Autonomous Prefecture on the evening of November 2 to discuss experience of poverty alleviation and rural revitalization.


 
“Beautiful scenery and unique culture are important to develop rural tourism. Short videos have an advantage in spreading these resources quickly.” Chen Muyun is a short video blogger from Thailand and an overseas broadcasting officer of Yunnan International Communication Center for South and Southeast Asia.

Chen Muyun shared Thailand’s experience in developing rural tourism and played her short videos on site. The exotic scenery and ethnic customs won continuous applause.
 
Chen Muyun is an authentic China hand who has lived in China for many years, and completed her doctoral degree in Yunnan Province. She said that in the future, she would shoot more exquisite short videos to better spread cultures of the two countries.


 
Ke Tian, a foreign journalist from the German Department of CGTN, has come to Hunan Province for the first time. She said that as a German, the local specialties, cuisine, and Miao costumes of Hunan deeply attract her. In her future work, she will record more stories about Hunan and tell them to friends from other countries.

“In the early stages of entrepreneurship, there were both hardships and joys, as well as confusion and gains. One day, I shared a video of washing my daughter’s hair with tea seed powder, which won over 120 million likes. Netizens asked how to buy it,” said Wu Simei, a popular internet celebrity in Fenghuang County.


 
Wu Simei shared her story of introducing good products to other places through e-commerce platforms. Nowadays, Wu Simei has helped more than 50 villagers get jobs near their homes and achieved annual sales of over 8 million yuan.

Shi Kang, the village secretary, introduced the brilliant achievements made in the cultural tourism development in Shibadong Village.

Today’s Shibadong is a national 5A-level scenic spot, with over 300 people engaged in tourism and an annual tourism income of 14.5 million yuan.
